"Can't be Titled"
This interactive project is a product of my research and ideas about a post-identity, posthuman, cyborg entity. I used the idea of the domestic as a space of recovery and rest as the departure point for my research and work to create what I consider a representation for a post-identity portal. I am interested in the impossibly relentless process of the Identity System (Burke, Stets 2009), where performance and evaluation are the cruces of the social construction. By trying to interrupt the system in its processes using the canon of the domestic as a place of refuge, I am interested in what happens in the creases of the interruption. The materiality of the project is about creating a discourse between disparate materials and technology while using the body of the viewer as part of the piece. The material composition includes ready-made wire racks and clips, Arduino Uno Microcontrollers, LCD shields for Arduino Uno, inkjet image on silk, various fabrics, various fine art paper, and custom neon tubes. When the pink neon tubes are approached by the viewer, they are activated when the viewer leaves they are deactivated. The piece cannot be fully activated by one viewer because of the intentional sensor placement.
